Boston Police commissioner Dennis White is suing the city to retain his job after Acting Mayor Kim Janey released a long-awaited report on Friday detailing multiple allegations of past domestic abuse against the police leader. The report included new information about the severity and repeated nature of White’s alleged violence, as well as an additional incident involving a second woman. The findings add to questions about the police department’s handling of it all, as well as how White was appointed so quickly to his job by former Mayor Marty Walsh based on a recommendation from former Commissioner William Gross. To discuss, Jim Braude was joined by Sophia Hall, supervising attorney for watchdog advocacy group Lawyers for Civil Rights, and Boston Globe columnist Adrian Walker.

“It's astonishing to me, and I say that as someone who has covered city government for years,” Walker said about the investigation. "Everyone feels free to not cooperate. It’s all enormously disturbing… there's [been] effort after effort to shut this down".
