We're marking a year of this pandemic and a year of In It Together.

First, GBH News reporter Tori Bedford brought back The Check In, where people answered how the coronavirus had changed them.

We also heard from GBH News reporters Mary Blake, Gabrielle Emanuel and Craig LeMoult. Blake examined the state of food insecurity in Massachusetts. Emanuel profiled a so-called COVID-19 longhauler who is still experiencing symptoms from the virus even after testing negative. LeMoult dove into the state's restaurant industry by revisiting the restaurant he dined in last March before Gov. Charlie Baker put the state into lockdown.

Then, we explored how the pandemic has drastically impacted how we grieve. Dr. Shamaila Khan is the director of the Center for Multicultural Mental Health and a clinical psychologist at Boston Medical Center. She organizes and runs bereavement groups for people who have lost someone to the coronavirus. Khan said that grief often starts before death, and many people and families have found themselves stuck in their grief for longer than they normally would because of the pandemic. A lack of closure, more time to think and a lack of routine all contribute to that, she said.

Finally, host Arun Rath looked back on the past 12 months of the pandemic — and the show. We asked some of our guests these past months to answer what they've lost, what they've gained and what comes next.
