On Wednesday, we heard from Ned Hinkle, creative director for the Brattle Theater in Harvard Square. Movie theaters can re-open in phase three of the state's re-opening plan, but with that, the movie viewing experience will be drastically different. In the meantime, the Brattle is offering virtual cinema recommendations for people missing their theater.
Then, we spoke with JJ Gonson, owner of Somerville's ONCE Ballroom, a music and event venue. She and venue staff have started a project called "Virtual Venue" where musicians can stream performances they would have otherwise played live at ONCE, if it weren't for the pandemic. JJ also owns the neighboring catering company Cuisine en Locale, which has also been closed since March. We heard how both businesses have been holding up and what re-opening them will look like.
