Boston Globe business columnist Shirley Leung joined Boston Public Radio on Friday to speak about how cancellations of events due to coronavirus will impact local businesses and workers. She noted how the Boston Marathon's postponement from April to September won't mean a complete loss in revenue, but a delay.

"The Boston Marathon will happen, but there'll be a postponement of people staying in hotels and of people spending," she said. "Other things are being outright canceled and you don't know if they'll be made up, like the suspension of the NBA season."

Leung said she thinks that hourly workers will be impacted greatly. "I'm thinking about the hot dog vendors at the sports arenas, and all the mass conventions that have been canceled. The hotels will suffer, particularly the hourly workers."
