On Thursday, "Boston Globe" columnist Alex Beam graced the Boston Public Library studios to discuss his recent opinion piece for the Globe, titled "In the Democratic primary, my dog is voting for . . .”

Beam's column ruminated on the so-called ‘pets as people’ movement, which he links to an inevitable next step: the voting of his wife’s West Highland terrier, Mica.

"Is that the worst column ever written?” Beam asked Jim and Margery, incredulously. "You have actual columnists on this show, right?"

He concluded, “God bless everyone at the "Boston Globe" for allowing me to print an interview with my wife’s dog,” before immediately recounting every beat of the "interview.".
