Emily Rooney: Wayfair Lays Off 550 Employees

Emily Rooney, host of WGBH News' Beat the Press, joined Boston Public Radio on Friday to discuss the Boston-based company Wayfair laying off 550 employees this week.

"[Wayfair] basically sells everything. They try to get everything imaginable at the cheapest price," she said. "I kept thinking, 'How is this sustainable?'"

Several Wayfair employees complained that they were notified about company restructuring via email on Thursday. "It's terrible, but that's how it happens everywhere," Rooney said.
