Today marks the 23rd year in a row that Tom Meagher, a resident of Duxbury, Massachusetts, will be the Boston Marathon finish line coordinator. Over the last two decades, he's seen hundreds of thousands of people finish the race. He is in charge of everything from getting the photographers into place to helping the winners find their way to the post-race press conference. And while you might think the most exciting thing about his job is having a front row seat to watching the elite athletes battle it out for first place, there's something else that motivates him to come back year after year.
