The Plymouth District Attorney, Timothy Cruz, said 47-year-old Allen Warner was taken into custody in Whitman. Police had been searching for Warner since Monday evening, when they believe he fatally shot his wife.
Police say Shana Warner called 911 shortly before 6 o'clock Monday, saying she was being followed in a car by her estranged hubsand.
When police responded, they found the victim with serious injuries. She was taken to South Shore Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The man believed to be the suspect fled the scene, authorities said.
The town was on lockdown for several hours while police searched the woods around Route 3A, near where the fatal shooting occurred, police said.
“This remains an active and ongoing homicide investigation,” Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz said during a press conference Monday night shortly after 10 p.m.
