Phil McGraw, better known to most as Dr. Phil, has made a career out of rescuing addicts on television. But a recent report by STAT at The Boston Globe paints a very different picture. The report claims McGraw’s staff directs guests — who are struggling with addiction — to drugs and provides them with alcohol, in an effort to make the show seem more dramatic.

The Dr. Phil Show responded to the story, stating “the show does not give drugs or alcohol to its guests…deception, dishonesty and denial are hallmarks of addiction.”
Evan Allen and David Armstrong, the investigative reporters behind the story, joined Jim Braude to discuss.
