A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit accusing Maine Gov. Paul LePage of abuse of power, but the case hasn't gone away.
A briefing schedule from the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston indicates the appeal will play out over the next several months. Briefs will be filed through mid-August before oral arguments are scheduled in Boston.
Earlier this month, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit accusing the Republican governor of using blackmail to force a charter school operator to rescind a job offer to a political opponent.
The lawsuit was brought by House Speaker Mark Eves, a Democrat.
His appeal of the lawsuit's dismissal will be heard by a three-judge panel in Boston.
