Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks joined Boston Public Radio on Friday to talk about her latest work, now on stage at the American Repertory Theater, Father Comes Home from the Wars.
Not only is Suzan-Lori Parks the first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for her play Topdog/Underdog, she's also a recipient of a MacArthur "Genius" Award.
Father Comes Home from the Wars is a play modeled after Homer's The Odyssey. The play follows a slave named "Hero" from Texas onto the battlefield in the Civil War.
Joining Parks in Studio Three was Steven Bargonetti. Bargonetti has played guitar with the likes of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, B.B. King. For Father Comes Home, Bargonetti serves as music director.
Parks and Bargonetti talked about the A.R.T. production, and treated listeners to a few songs.
