Police have found the pickup truck they believe struck and severely injured a Methuen teenager Monday morning and are looking for the man who may have been behind the wheel.
Authorities are looking for Robert Jacques , 28, of Lowell and describe him as a "person of interest." Methuen police say the driver struck the Methuen High School student as he was crossing the street toward the bus. The driver ignored the school bus' flashing lights and stop sign.
Methuen police chief Joe Solomon says Jacques is a person of interest and that they believe he was picked up by another vehicle shortly after the hit-and-run.
"There is video surveillance from that area. Detectives are currently processing that video surveillance as we speak so we can determine whether or not he was picked up and who picked him up. Luckily, in today's day, as you guys know from the media, there are cameras everywhere."
The victim's name has not been released but authorities describe him as a 15-year-old boy. He was flown to Boston Children's hospital for surgery.
