Do we write off some independent and Republican politicians in Massachusetts because they're not viable? Or are they not viable because we write them off?

This week, The Scrum podcast took a closer look at the struggle that some candidates face trying to get media coverage and the public to see them as contenders. Featuring interviews with independent Massachusetts gubernatorial candidates Evan Falchuk and Jeff McCormick.

"Press coverage drives polls. Polls then drive debates. Debates drive more press coverage and polls.  They system as it's been set up is designed to create an environment in which unless you're one of the establishment candidates, you're not going to get the type of coverage that leads to the polls, that leads to this."

Also up on The Scrum blog, featured interviews with Dave D'Arcangelo, a Republican candidate for Secretary of the Commonwealth, and Mike Heffernan, a Republican candidate for State Treasurer.
