Jose Antonio Vargas' Wikipedia page describes him as a journalist, filmmaker and immigration activist. He's worked for The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle and numerous other publications. And in a June 2011 essay in The New York Times Magazine, Vargas revealed his status as an undocumented immigrant at the time he was advocating for the immigrants rights.
