Taped by WGBH Forum Network, assistant curator of marine mammals Jenny Montague visited the New England Aquarium to talk about her project on procuring blood from seals.

Montague explains how she traveled to the West Coast to learn a new technique for drawing blood from seals, not from their flippers, but from a vessel near their back.  She describes how seals have different personalities and how baby seals can be trained to be especially conducive to treatment.
