The body of a child was found around 9 a.m. this morning off the south-bound lane of route 190 in Sterling, near exit 6.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early says the body is consistent in height and weight with that of Jeremiah Oliver, the five year old from Fitchburg, missing since last September.

Oliver’s disappearance was discovered in December when school officials alerted the Department of Children and Families. The DCF later found that a caseworker assigned to the Oliver family had missed required monthly visits since April 2013.

The case prompted sharp criticism of DCF, leading to the firing of that caseworker and two supervisors. Early says no other information will be available until after an autopsy is performed.
