Boston's Logan International Airport plans to stay open during the snowstorm, but that doesn't there will be any flights in or out.

Director of Aviation Ed Freni said airlines that service the airport decided Thursday that they won't bring in planes for the Friday morning schedules, and dozens of flights in and out have been canceled or delayed. The last scheduled departure is expected at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The airport should start operations by noon on Friday.

But the airport will remain open, runways and taxiways will be cleared, and staff will be on hand just in case. As usual, travelers are urged to check with their airline before heading out.

The storm bearing down on the region is expected to drop more than a foot of snow before all is said and done on Friday.

On Thursday evening, there were three types of travelers at Boston Logan Airport.

Those who are hoping...

"They think we are going to get out. fingers crossed that its actually going to work out."

Those who are waiting...

"The flights been canceled and everything so I'm here until 12 o'clock tomorrow afternoon."

And those who are trying to figure out what to do next...

"The flight to Chicago has not yet been canceled, so they won't give me my bag back."

That was Ashley Standfield hopefully headed to San Francisco, Emily Christian waiting to get to Maine, and Carrie Klugman of Melrose  trying to figure how to get her luggage.

Freni advises passengers to call their airlines for information about flights. Most airlines have agreed to wave fees for changing reservations.
