UMass Boston Evacuates Building Due To False Report Of Person With Gun

Just hours after Harvard University evacuated four buildings  because of an emailed bomb threat, the University of Massachusetts Boston has evacuated its McCormack Building, telling students via Twitter to avoid the area because of a "possible person with a firearm."

UMass Boston Alert: Evacuate McCormack Building. Possible person with a firearm. Avoid area. Officials are on scene.

[UPDATE 12:25 p.m.] The Massachusetts State Police say the UMass Boston emergency is a false threat.

There were reports of a threat at @UmassBoston . There is no threat. False report. Scene is clear.

[UPDATE 12:30 p.m.] UMass Boston has issued it's own "all-clear" message.

UMass Boston Alert: The earlier report of a gunman on campus has been cleared. The McCormack building has been reopened for business.
