James "Whitey" Bulger will not testify in his defense in his own trial, but he still made himself heard Friday as he angrily denounced the trial in court.

"I'm making the choice [not to testify] involuntarily," he told Judge Denise Casper, after confirming he would not testify. "I feel I've been choked off."

Bulger expressed anger over the fact that his lawyers weren't allowed to present the defense that former prosecutor Jeremiah O'Sullivan had given him immunity. Bulger said he had protected O'Sullivan's life.

"That's the way it is," Bulger said with a gravelly voice. "As far as I'm concerned, I didn't get a fair trial. This is a sham. That's my final answer."

Pat Donahue, the widow of one of Bulger's alleged victims, yelled, "You're a coward," from the gallery.

With the defense rested, Judge Casper said the jury will get the case on Tuesday to begin deliberations.
