Ten years ago, the FCC slapped several networks with big fines after Cher and Bono dropped a few f-bombs during an awards ceremony. The FCC has since backed off fining broadcasters for such 'fleeting expletives' but the threat still lingers. Not so for cable networks, which are exempt from profanity rules, and that made us wonder why CNN bleeped so much language during the George Zimmerman trial.
