“I’m Black and I’m Gay.” That’s what the seven-foot Basketball center Jason Collins told Sports Illustrated in an interview last week. The 34-year-old NBA star – who started the season with the Boston Celtics and is now with the Washington Wizards -- told SI, “I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete in a major American team sport, But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation.” Our next guest know that conversation well. Boston Herald sports columnist Steve Buckley came out in a column two years ago writing that “if more people are able to be honest about who they are, ultimately fewer people will feel such devastating pressure.”
