Fifty years ago this week, the U.S. Navy suffered one of it’s worst-ever peace-time disasters. 129 lives were lost when the nuclear submarine – the U.S.S. Thresher – sank some 200 miles off the coast of Massachusetts. Over the weekend, hundreds gathered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to pay tribute to their sacrifice.
