The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday morning that the New England Patriot team plane had departed from Shenzhen, China loaded with 1.2 million N95 masks and is due to land at Boston's Logan Airport on Thursday, describing a "story of this remarkable delivery."

According to Andrew Beaton's article, a weekslong quest to acquire the highly coveted masks began with efforts from Gov. Charlie Baker.

"In today's world, those of us who are fortunate to make a difference have a significant responsibility to do so with all the assets we have available to us," Robert Kraft says in the article.

The mission aboard the Boeing 767, which showed the lengths to which people are taking to acquire personal protective equipment to fight coronavirus, involved stops in Alaska, an avionics upgrade made in Wilmington, Ohio, and a strictly regulating and timed cargo loading process in China.

At the DCU Center in Worcester Wednesday afternoon, Baker said he expected to have announcements about virus-fighting gear on Thursday.

"No days off. Thanks to some serious teamwork, Massachusetts is set to receive over 1 million N95 masks for our front-line workers. Huge thanks to the Krafts and several dedicated partners for making this happen," Baker tweeted Thursday morning.
