Boston Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius called in to Boston Public Radio on Monday to discuss the school system's coronavirus preparedness and how parents can ensure their kids have access to food during the outbreak.
Cassellius said B.P.S. has received a federal waiver to supply meals to students in line with their Summer school model.
"I want all parents to know we are going to step up and feed all our children in Boston. If parents are in need, and they don’t know where [to get food], please come. Go to BostonPublicSchools.org, we’ll be able to answer all your questions and help you out."
She also stressed that there will be 50 additional sites across the city for families without children enrolled in Boston Public Schools.
"We will not turn away anybody, but we wanna make sure that parents and older adults and more vulnerable people know how they can get served in the city of Boston,” she said.
Speaking to Boston students and their families, Cassellius ended the conversation saying "Boston Public Schools stand right with them as incredible partners in this time that’s very stressful for all of us.”
