Twenty years ago, the Emmy Award winning show Beat the Press made its debut on Boston's airwaves, and on Friday evening its creator and host Emily Rooney celebrated the milestone with a special live anniversary edition.
Rooney, who has hosted the show since its inception, welcomed long-time panelists Adam Reilly of WGBH News, Jon Keller of WBZ News, Dan Kennedy of Northeastern University, and Callie Crossley of WGBH News to reflect on the biggest media moments of the past two decades.
The special episode focused on shifts in the local media landscape, times when journalists and television personalities crossed the line, events the media obsessed over, and moments when good journalism triumphed.
