This Memorial Day weekend, the Boston Calling music festival makes its return to Harvard Athletic Complex for the first time since 2019. Started in 2013, Boston Calling regularly brings nationally and internationally touring acts to the commonwealth for three days of live concerts.
Ahead of Boston Calling, GBH News is featuring interviews with a number of the local talents from right here in Greater Boston who will be hitting the stage alongside acts like Metallica, HAIM and The Strokes.
Among the local names on Boston Calling’s 2022 roster is The Chelsea Curve , a mod-pop inspired band out of Melrose. The band draws heavy inspiration from British rock icons like The Jam and The Clash, but are excited to “bring that kind of original Boston rock sound” that’s “loud and aggressive but [still] melodic” to their performances.
The Chelsea Curve — a trio consisting of Linda Pardee on lead vocals and bass, Tim Gillis on guitar and vocals and Ron Belanger on drums — are eager to get back on stage. To pass the time during the pandemic, the band rolled out “Single Scenes” in 2021, releasing one song a month for eight months that culminated in their 2022 debut album All the Things.
