Elon Musk's $44 billion purchase of Twitter turned heads this week and left a lot of people wondering what changes he might make to the platform. Social media experts weighed in on the wide range of possibilities on Greater Boston with Jim Braude.

Naomi Nix, social media reporter at the Washington Post, said Musk could implement an edit button, change the company's advertising model or content management practices, or decide which banned Twitter users, such as Donald Trump, might be allowed to get back on Twitter.

"I think the big million dollar question facing Elon and facing Twitter right now in this moment is, do you reverse the permanent ban on President Donald Trump and let him back on?" Nix said.

Dan Primack, business editor at Axios, said Twitter has been heavy-handed with its blocking and banning features in recent years, which has drawn criticism. He noted that Musk's deal happened incredibly quickly, and a lot of questions remain about what will happen when he takes the helm.

"When there was an all hands employee meeting at Twitter yesterday, and employees had questions about content moderation, they had questions about their own jobs, the answer was, 'Ask Elon when he gets here,'" Primack said.
