There are over 5 million Muslims in France, which makes it the largest source of recruits for the Islamic State in Western Europe. So far five of the Paris attackers have been identified as French nationals. So is  there something unique in how France has historically dealt with its Muslim community that could foment radicalization within its own borders?

Jonathan Laurence,  a professor of political science at Boston College and the author of The Emancipation of Europe's Muslims,  joined Jim and Margery today on Boston Public Radio to tackle this and other questions about what it means to be Muslim in France.
