Today is a historic day in Rhode Island as 42-year old Gina Raimondo takes over as the 75th Governor.

When she is sworn in at noon today, she becomes the first woman Governor to hold the position since the state was founded 378 years ago, and the first democrat elected to the position in  22-years.

Rhode Island  is facing numerous economic hardships and Raimondo, as the former Treasurer, helped ink the pension reform bill that addressed mounting pension liabilities that were threatening the state's fiscal health in 2012. She says her goal is to bring the state back to economic health.
