On November 9, 2016 Harvard University celebrated the acquisition of the Randy Weston's remarkable Archive. The evening began with a slide show providing highlights of the collection and a conversation between Professor Robin D.G. Kelley, Randy Weston and Ingrid Monson, Quincy Jones Professor of African American Music about his major projects such as the Uhuru Afrika album and his dedication to Africa's place in the legacy of jazz.
A concert, featuring Randy Weston and the African Rhythms Quintet, was held at Agassiz Theatre following the conversation. At the time Mr. Weston was 90 years old. As you will hear, Weston and the band the were inspired, magnetic and unforgettable.
