Calling all Boston music aficionados — are you sick of suppressing drool when you hear your west coast friends talk about the lineup for Coachella? Tired of contemplating a trip to New York’s Governor’s Ball, only to find tickets will cost you an arm and a leg?
Well, my friends, your time has come. Crashline Productions has announced the first annual Boston Calling Music Festival, to take place on May 25 and 26 at City Hall Plaza. Finally, Bostonians have earned the right to whip out their jean shorts and Ray Bans and shake what their mother gave them to some tunes in either a) unbearable heat or b) unseasonable cold.
For a first time festival, Boston Calling’s recently announced lineup is surprisingly robust. Best New Artist Grammy winners fun. will headline the weekend event, which will also feature performances from The Shins, The National, Matt and Kim, Marina and the Diamonds, Ra Ra Riot, and The Walkmen, to name a few. Crashline is also promising festival attendees delicious food from local vendors and tasty hops-based refreshments.
Tickets for the festival will go on sale Friday, March 1, but if you don’t think that you can contain your excitement until then, here’s a Boston Calling-inspired playlist to fuel you for the next few days.
The Walkmen — Anglea Surf City
The Shins — Australia
Matt and Kim — Good for Great
Dirty Projectors — Stillness is the Move
