Is there any treat that is as universally loved as a cookie? Here in Massachusetts, we feel like we have some authority on the topic. After all, the chocolate chip cookie was invented in our backyard.
In honor of National Cookie Day, we put together a list of some awesome places around Boston that have since mastered the art of the perfect desert. Check them out below.
Cookie Monstah
The only thing better than one freshly-baked cookie is two freshly-baked cookies with a huge helping of ice cream in between. That's what
Cookie Monstah does best. The empire started with a food truck—that loyalists can still find roaming all around Boston—and has expanded its kingdom with brick and mortar locations in Burlington and Danvers.
You'll appreciate the menu with a Boston sense of humor. Highlights include the Salty Dog (salted caramel and turtle ice cream), Cup-O-Joe (double chocolate cookies with coffee Oreo ice cream,) and the epic Red Monstah (red velvet cookies with Green Monster mint Oreo ice cream).

Insomnia Cookies
Can’t sleep? Insomnia Cookies has a cure for you. Founded by college students, this establishment is famous for delivering cookies—warm cookies—until 3am. But it's not just about their delicious cookies. Insomnia cares about the entire cookie-consuming experience and will gladly drop off ice cream and cold milk with their warm treats.
Chocolate lovers will rejoice at the double chocolate chunk and triple chocolate cookies, which begs the question: is there such a thing as too much chocolate? That's up to you.

Blue Dragon
Ming Tsai’s Blue Dragon is known for tasty small plates and cocktails. But make sure you stick around for dessert. “The Cookie” at the Fort Point restaurant is so legendary that it defies the need for a cute name.
It’s a deep-dish (yes, there is such a thing) treat served in a cast-iron skillet, with a drizzle of soy caramel and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Share if you must, or tackle it alone. It's perfect both ways.

Sofra Bakery and Cafe
Sofra is Paradise among the landscape of eateries in Cambridge. The bakery and cafe comes from the mind of Executive Chef Ana Sortun, who brought us Oleana and Sarma, also taking its inspiration from the best flavors of Turkey, Lebanon and Greece.
On the menu, you’ll find delectable macaroons, baklava, and tahini tarts. But the real showstopper is the Earthquake, a cakey dark chocolate cookie literally bursting at the seams and covered in powdered sugar. It’s volcanic perfection.

Blunch
Cookies are ideal for any time, even the mashup known as blunch. This South End neighborhood spot—that shares the name of the meal—serves up delicious daily “whims.” You'll find a rotating assortment of sandwiches, salads and other treats including a delightful (and photogenic) triple chocolate chip cookie with a perfect cookie-to-chocolate chip ratio.

Clear Flour Bread
When it comes to baked goods, Brookline's Clear Flour Bread knows what they’re doing. In addition to staking claim on introducing artisan bread baking to the Boston-area, their cookies are out-of-this-world delicious.
Clear Flour Bread's chocolate chunk cookie is one-of-a-kind. Their secret weapon is Scharffen Berger bittersweet chocolate that's folded into tight layers of buttery dough, creating a sweet, rich, and chocolately delight.
