It’s the end of January; almost a full month into the new year. At this time, we’re right in the throes of two very different ideologies— “My new year’s resolutions are concrete and will never die,” and “right...resolutions, maybe I’ll try again next year.”
Though everyone’s resolutions may vary, one of the most common is to be healthier. And whether it’s going to the gym more or eating better, we’ve found some great juice and smoothie places that let you do the easiest part of that…drink smarter.
Livite, Brookline
Livite is a small take-out joint with a large menu of pressed juice and smoothie options. They also make 'wellness shots' which are a more concentrated version of a juice. But this place isn't just about a liquid diet, Livite also offers a variety of solid meal options like salads, grain bowls and wraps.
For us, no visit is complete without getting The Grasshopper, a smoothie made with ingredients like spinach, coconut milk, cashews, cacao nibs and peppermint. It's refreshing and tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream, and that's why we love it. Delicious and good for you!

Pressed Juicery, Boston & Cambridge
Pressed Juicery started as a tiny storefront in West L.A. and is now located in six different states, including Massachusetts. They too have wellness shots as well as packaged bars, granola, and even an ice cream called “freeze.” But their main focus is their juice, and their limited-edition Blue Lemonade is something that we just can't get enough of right now. It's made of five simple ingredients: maple water, lemon, maple syrup, mint and the superfood spirulina, and has a kick of vitamin C that can help you power through anything.
Pressed Juicery also offers discounts on juice bundles, making this is a great place to stock up.

Life Alive, Cambridge, Brookline & Salem
Life Alive is a friendly, funky, quick-serve spot that makes it easy to eat/drink smart. They serve a variety of juices and smoothies, and they're known for their wide selection of organic veggie/vegan wraps, salads, grain and açaí bowls. And many of Life Alive's drinks contain ingredients like blue-green algae, bee pollen and raw cacao -- all of which are superfoods that are rich in a variety of vitamins to help boost your immune system. Their juices and smoothies are packed with flavor and a punch.
Our must-have is the Elvis Alive, an appropriately named smoothie made with peanut butter, bananas, raw cacao and coconut milk. It's rich and creamy, and dresses up nicely as a dessert that takes the liability out of indulging. We'd recommend you save this one for when your sweet tooth kicks in. (That's everyday for us.)

JUGOS, Boston
JUGOS is a strictly grab-and-go place to pick up a drink on your way to wherever you are going. They keep operations small, are using a variety of fresh ingredients, and make your juices and smoothies right it right in front of you. Efficient, transparent and healthy, and that's why we love them. They're literally redefining the words “fast food” into something you won’t need to feel guilty about.
We couldn't be more thrilled with the detox program that JUGOS offers. It's a cold-press juice cleanse that is curated by them, or you can custom order, that makes it incredibly easy to stay on track. There's a variety of juice options, all made fresh and designed to boost your overall health, and pre-orders are required. You can visit their website for more information.

Boston Farm Stand, East Boston
Boston Farm Stand sells fresh fruit, their liquified counterparts and a variety of delicious panini sandwiches to accompany. They also have smoothie bowls, a solid form of the drink, that are chock full of fruits and vegetables, and other superfood ingredients, that make eating healthy effortless.
But the real people pleaser is the People Heater, a smoothie made with pineapple, celery, cactus leaf, parsley, cinnamon, honey and flax seed meal. It's sweet (but not too sweet) and is packed with a mix of refreshing flavors. Hot tip: Boston Farm Stand uses Uber Eats making delivery an option.

Juicygreens, Jamaica Plain
Juicygreens has an extensive menu of plant-based drinks that adults love, but did you know they're also kid tested and physician approved? We consider it a big plus that they're family-friendly and can't help but dote on the mini bowl and smoothie options for the little ones. A favorite is the Berry Good smoothie made with fresh strawberries, blueberries, banana and almond milk. It's just the right amount of sweet to keep the kids sipping, but also the right amount of healthy to keep the parents happy.
Juicygreens also offers pre-made cleanse packs to help kickstart your healthy lifestyle. They've got a 24-hour Reset/Reboot pack, and an Energizer 3-day Juice Cleanse, to choose from and delivery is an option. (And a perk!)
