One year ago, everything changed. On March 10, 2020, with 91 presumed positive cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth, Gov. Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency across Massachusetts and shifted all of us into a new world.
Many of us lost loved ones, many got sick. We went months without seeing our families, mourned deaths without funerals, celebrated birthdays on Zoom and postponed our weddings. We said goodbye to in-person school, traveling, socializing, live music and theater. Many of us lost jobs, others learned to work from home while balancing family life. Throughout, and long before we had a single vaccine, essential workers and health care professionals continued to risk their lives to protect us.
For this episode of The Check In, we asked you to reflect on the past year: how the pandemic changed your life, your perspective, your routines and the way you look at your future.
