This tattooed ode to Boston caught our attention on WGBHBoston's Instagram earlier this week. We, here in news, decided to do our due diligence and check out the story behind the tattoo.

Who are you?

I work at 'GBH in local development in Member Services. My name is Leigha Wholey, and I'm 26.

How long have you been working at WGBH?

A little over a year. I started in January 2013.

With a tattoo like that, is it safe to assume you've got some Massachusetts roots?

I live right down the street in the center of Brighton. I grew up in Pepperell. I went to Northeastern. I did an internship [at WGBH] in Development.

How would you describe your tattoo?

It looks like a child's drawing. Just a minimalist outline of the city. People have gotten it before, but instead of 'GBH they put the Citgo sign. I think 'GBH is a way better part of the skyline than the Citgo sign. And a way more important contributor to the city of Boston in general.

Where'd you get it?

We were on the train on the way into New York and Peter [her friend and co-worker] said 'Let's get a tattoo!' So, I just Googled Boston skyline tattoos and this was gonna be quick and easy.

So, you got it in New York?

Yeah! We went to New York to get a Boston skyline tattoo.

UPDATE: A commenter pointed out that Leigha's tattoo seems to be designed by this artist.
