Thank-You Gift FAQs

Below are answers to many common questions about thank-you gifts for donations during membership drives.

Thank-you gifts are our way of showing our appreciation for your donation. While a donation can be made without selecting a thank-you gift, we also allow our donors during our pledge drives to select a gift as our way of saying thanks for making a contribution and helping our station.

During one of our fundraising drives, when you make a donation, you can select to add a gift to receive with your donation. Or if you want to call in to make a donation, ask the member services representative if there are any thank-you gifts available for your donation.

Already a Sustainer and want to add a gift on? Please contact Audience & Member Services and we'll happily work with you to get you a gift.

We value your contribution as it helps us sustain our educational mission and will try to get you your gift as soon as possible. While we estimate 3-4 weeks for delivery, there is no guaranteed delivery date, including during the holidays. While we wish it were possible to guarantee a delivery date, time of delivery of our thank-you gifts may vary depending on product availability. 

Sometimes our items may go on backorder, especially during our membership drives for popular items. It's a great sign that you've helped us raise a lot. If your thank you gift is placed on backorder after you make a donation, we will notify you via email. You can also contact Audience & Member Services for an update on the delivery timeline of your gift.

If a thank you gift has not been shipped, we can update the delivery address, no problem. Contact Audience & Member Services and we can update the address with our shipping vendor. If the gift has already been shipped, please contact Audience & Member Services and we'll work to find a solution to get you your gift.

Thank-you gifts may be added to an existing donation as long as the value of the item does not exceed the donated amount and if it is requested in the same calendar as the donation. If you have a sustaining donation already, contact Audience & Member Services to request a thank-you gift for your continued support.

While we appreciate your donation, due to tax regulations, Donor Advised Funds and IRA Distribution donations cannot receive taxable, itemized benefits. This includes items like DVDs, concert tickets, or other items that are offered as thank-you gifts via membership drives. However, giving with a Donor Advised Fund will still grant you access to GBH Passport.

The tax deductible amount of your donation is the donated amount minus the fair market value (FMV) of the thank-you gift received. This value can be found in your acknowledgment letter, your acknowledgment email, or by requesting it from Audience & Member Services. For example, if your donation is $120.00, and your thank-you gift has a fair market value $19.99, the tax-deductible amount of your donation would be $100.01.
