GBH 2026 Annual Report

The past year has seen sweeping, unprecedented changes — from the loss of federal funding for public media to shifting economic models in the larger media business, and startling threats to the First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Still, GBH has not wavered in our mandate or mission.

For three quarters of a century, GBH has told stories that matter, served as the region’s most trusted news source, and provided vital, free educational programming for children and families. None of that has changed, or will change. Undeterred, GBH is in forward motion.

In order to thrive in this next era, GBH will push ahead and branch out, continuing our growth from a 20th century broadcaster to a 21st century digital media powerhouse. We will meet our audiences where they are, while preserving the programming and traditions that have been our hallmark for generations.

We invite you to explore Forward Motion to learn more about the programs, events, and services that GBH has produced in 2025.

Telling stories is how people connect with one another, a truth unchanged for centuries, yet radically transformed in the digital age. At GBH, our mission is to tell stories that matter, whether in the form of documentaries, news stories, children’s content, or dramatic period pieces to help audiences take a breather from the complexity of our day-to-day lives. Our storytelling inspires, educates, and connects people to ideas and one another, helping us feel less alone in a divided world. We invite you to explore Telling Stories That Matter to learn about the programs, events, and services of 2024.
