Programming includes GBH Jazz Nights and new GBH Music Presents JazzNOW television and streaming series
(Boston, Mass. - Jan. 31, 2025) – GBH, in collaboration with JazzBoston , has announced an expanded series of programs and events to showcase the wide-ranging talent of Greater Boston’s jazz community and engage enthusiasts of all ages. The offerings include the launch of a new television series, GBH Music Presents JazzNOW, along with the extension of GBH Jazz Nights, a free monthly live music series at the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square.
“Boston has long been a vibrant hub for jazz, with its rich musical history and world-class talent,” said Sam Brewer, General Manager of GBH Music. “GBH Music is committed to making jazz accessible to our audiences, and there’s no better way to do that than by joining forces with JazzBoston to set a stage for the incredible musicians who live throughout this region.”
GBH Music Presents JazzNOW debuts on GBH 2 and on PBS Passport in February 2025. The new series features exciting performances by local musicians, filmed at the GBH Studios in Brighton. Fans have the opportunity to attend live tapings for future episodes monthly from February through May. Tickets to attend the live tapings in person at GBH in Brighton are $50. Additionally, recently extended through May, GBH Jazz Nights is a free monthly live music series in the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. Held on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., GBH Jazz Nights showcases talented musicians from Greater Boston. The series has presented vocalist and trumpet player Christine Fawson, cuatro player Fabiola Mendez, electric marimba player Vessela Stoyanova, flute player Kristalis Sotomayor and Latin Breeze, and piano player Hey Rim Jeon.
The Feb. 13 GBH Jazz Nights features pianist Jesse Taitt in a musical offering that celebrates resilience, ancestry, and community. Guitarist Albino Mbie performs on March 13; Ken Field brings a quartet on April 10; and flute player Anabel Gil Díaz brings a trio on May 8.
