The public is invited to attend free live tapings of High School Quiz Show, taking place Jan. 24-26 and Feb. 2.
Boston, Mass. - (Jan. 13, 2025) - High School Quiz Show , GBH’s academic tournament for Massachusetts high school students, will premiere its 16th season on Saturday, Feb. 8. Joe Hanson, creator and host of PBS Digital Studios’ Be Smart , will return to host the Emmy Award-winning competition. Seventeen teams from high schools across the Commonwealth will go head to head each week, competing to advance through the bracket and earn the title of High School Quiz Show State Champion. The teams of four will work together to demonstrate their knowledge in categories such as math, history, science, literature, civics, and current events.
Season 16 premieres with a Wild Card match between Deerfield Academy and Milton Academy, airing Saturday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. ET on GBH 2 and the High School Quiz Show YouTube channel. New episodes air each Saturday through May 17.
Season 15 State Champion Lexington High School (Season 7 and 8 winner) will return to defend their title. Other returning High School Quiz Show champions include Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (Season 14 winner), Acton-Boxborough Regional High School (Season 5 winner), Andover High School (Season 9 winner), and North Quincy High School (Seasons 4 and 13 winner). Four schools will be making their first appearance on High School Quiz Show, including Deerfield Academy, Maimonides School, Milton Academy, and St. John’s Prep.
“This season of High School Quiz Show showcases the incredible academic talent from high schools across Massachusetts, giving students the opportunity to come together, have fun, and show off everything they’ve learned,” said GBH Executive Producer and Director of Youth Media Hillary Wells. “We look forward to welcoming family, friends, and fans to cheer on an incredibly competitive group of teams as they compete head-to-head for the coveted title of High School Quiz Show State Champion.”
