Boston, Mass. (Dec. 2, 2024) — CAI, the Cape and Islands radio station, announced today that The Garden Lady, a weekly, hour-long call-in radio program hosted by plant expert C.L. Fornari, will begin airing exclusively on WCAI 90.1, WNAN 91.1, and WZAI 94.3, Saturdays at 1 p.m. starting Jan. 4. On The Garden Lady, Fornari takes listener questions and discusses a wide range of topics around gardening, horticulture, and nature, with a special focus on helping the Cape and Islands community make the most of every season, regardless of their level of plant experience.

“I couldn’t be more excited to bring The Garden Lady to CAI. Together, our commitment to curiosity and community engagement, and deep roots in the Cape and Islands, are aligned to cultivate a vibrant conversation around horticulture, gardening, and nature,” said Fornari. “I know that The Garden Lady will be a great fit for CAI’s audience, and hope all listeners curious about making the most of their gardens, helping indoor plants thrive, protecting our environment, and simply learning more about the natural world here on the Cape, will call in with their questions. I can’t wait to hear from you.”

In addition to CAI’s weekly radio broadcast, The Garden Lady will be available to stream at CapeAndIslands.org and as a podcast.

“C.L. is a deeply respected voice in the world of gardening and beyond on the Cape and Islands. Luckily for local plant lovers, she has turned her passion into a decades-long, award-winning career in garden communication on multiple platforms,” said Mindy Todd, CAI Managing Director of Editorial. “We’re grateful to C.L. for bringing The Garden Lady to CAI, and are thrilled to be able to offer her voice and knowledge to our listeners every week as we kick off the new year.”

Fornari is a creative gardening expert who transitioned from artist to garden communicator in 1995. She is the author of eight books including “Coffee for Roses,” “The Cocktail Hour Garden,” and “Sand and Soil: Creating Beautiful Gardens on Cape Cod and the Islands.” Fornari founded the Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival, a ten-day regional celebration of gardens.
