When the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) announced its 2020 Salute to Excellence Award nominations, GBH News received six nods — more than any other media organization in the Top 15 Radio and Television Markets categories.

The NABJ Awards recognize the best reporting about the Black experience or issues affecting the Black community. Winners will be announced during a virtual ceremony on Saturday, December 19.

Five nominations came in the radio category:

In television, GBH received a nomination for an episode of Basic Black, the longest running program on public television focusing on the interests of people of color:

  • The Men of Color and Mental Health episode earned a nomination in the Public Affairs: Interview/Discussion category. The GBH production is hosted by Callie Crossley; Delores Edwards is the executive producer, Kavontae Smalls and Bob Judge are associate producers and Rob Fagnant is director.
