Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural Overpass by Gabrielle Maye incorporates imagery inspired by the objects, concepts, and uncertainties of reality. Diverse landscapes of Maye’s memories, including the industrial environments of Boston and Montreal, shape the contours of her inner world.
“Via my creative process, I visualize both the collision and osmosis of inner and outer experience.” Maye says. “Where does our subjective inner world end? And where does our objective outer world begin? With illustration that integrates the natural and organic, the architectural and mathematical, and the psychological and mythical, I strive to express this surreal interchange of perception, memory, and fantasy.”
Maye is an artist and educator living in Boston, MA. She received her B.F.A. in painting from Boston University.
