Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural features a painting of Boston brownstones by Oneil Pimentel, who is a self-taught painter.
“My work reflects my thirst for color and warmth in a city where winters can really affect you,” Pimentel says. “However, the long periods of cold weather did not stop me from loving Boston and all it has to offer. That is when I, almost inadvertently, started portraying my surroundings in bold, cheerful, and colorful acrylics that bring out the true livelihood behind Bostonian architecture.”
Pimentel grew up in Brazil, surrounded by his grandmother’s beautiful paintings. Later, he takes inspiration from his grandmother to paint creations of his own.
