Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural features a floral arrangement by Ángel Javier Diáz. In this piece, Diáz weaves together Caribbean roots with New England foliage by using tropical florals in an autumnal color palette.
“My grandmother back in Venezuela loved hearing about my floral shop and seeing images of the designs I prepare,” Diáz says. “I keep her photo in my shop with a small display of flowers next to it. For me, flowers reflect the beauty of the connections we have with those we love.”
Diáz is a photographer and floral designer originally from Venezuela. After living abroad as a student in London and Dublin, Diáz opened a flower shop in Boston.
