WRONGFULLY JAILED FOR 38 YEARS, FRED CLAY REBUILDS HIS LIFE IN LOWELL, a WGBH News series in partnership with the New England Center for Investigative Reporting. The series was reported by NECIR’s Chris Burrell; edited by WGBH News Exec Producer/Editor Aaron Schachter and Investigations Editor Paul Singer, with audio editing and mixing by WGBH News Engineer Doug Shugarts, and photos by WGBH Director of Photography Meredith Nierman.

WGBH News took Second Place in the Newscast category for September 14, 2018, the day after the Merrimack Valley gas explosions. - Reporters Tina Martin and Saraya Wintersmith, as well as Anchor Joe Mathieu.
Craig LeMoult’s report, MASSACHUSETTS GAS LEAKS SET OFF SERIES OF EXPLOSIONS, was recognized with a First Place award in the Nationally Edited Breaking News category.
Callie Crossley was honored with a Second Place PRNDI Award in the Commentary category for THE SMITH COLLEGE INCIDENT IS WHAT EVERYDAY RACISM LOOKS LIKE.
ARE WE READY? – HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS ON CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS, WCAI’s five-part report on the vulnerability of the region to a major hurricane, earned Second Place in the Best Collaborative Effort category. The series, a collaboration with the Cape Cod Times, was a WCAI newsroom-wide effort that included reports from Samantha Fields, Kathryn Eident, Sarah Mizes-Tan, Pien Huang, and Hayley Fager. The series was edited by WCAI Managing Editor for News Steve Junker.
