The Boston Initiative to Advance Human Rights (BITAHR) is dedicated to programs that focus on helping women and children attain protection and fulfillment of their human rights. BITAHR has a particular interest in the right of women and children to be free from forced prostitution and commercial sexual exploitation (CSE). BITAHR engages in research and provides outreach and education targeted at eliminating CSE through empowerment of children and young women. BITAHR uses domestic and international channels of investigation, intervention and funding to end the sexual commodification of children and young women in the US and abroad. We provide entrepreneurship and business training and mentoring for formerly trafficked women in the Boston area. On the international front, we are developing strategic collaborations with grassroots organizations in order to address CSE globally. We believe that those who are vulnerable to CSE must be protected and that those who have already been subjected to it should be treated as stakeholders with the potential to make a difference in the fight against CSE and other human rights abuses.
