Maya Lin is an American architect and sculptor best known for her design of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Although chiefly known as a sculptor, Lin also has worked on several architectural projects, which often have been noted for their emphasis on sustainability. Some of the high-profile works in this realm include the Langston Hughes Library (1999) and the Museum of Chinese in America in New York City (2009). Never one to fall into artistic complacency, Maya Lin has also created What Is Missing?, a multimedia, multi-location project that focused on bringing awareness to habitat loss.
Rahwa Ghirmatzion was born in Asmera, Eritrea and with her parents and siblings came to WNY in 1984. She grew up on the West Side of Buffalo, was educated in the Buffalo Public Schools and then the University at Buffalo. She has been working at PUSH since May 2013.
Siddhartha Roy is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. He works with Dr. Marc Edwards researching failure mechanisms in potable water infrastructure, specifically erosion corrosion in copper-based premise plumbing and, more recently, the citywide lead contamination and other corrosion-caused water quality issues in the Flint Water Crisis.
