**Kent Gonzales** manages Northland Investment Corporation's large scale and complex mixed-use development projects. He has over 30 years of diverse real estate development experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors and has directly managed over $1 billion of development. Before joining Northland, Kent managed the planning, development, and construction of multiple projects throughout New England and Colorado.

**Michelle Apigian** is a passionate advocate for sustainability. She is a Passive House trained architect who has completed projects that achieve a 90% reduction in energy usage. An adept planner and a creative designer, Michelle exudes delight while engaging community and clients alike. Her positive "get it done" attitude is a breath of fresh air, and both clients and contractors sing her praises. Michelle received a B.A. from Dartmouth and Masters in Architecture and City Planning from MIT.

**Jacob Knowles** is director of Sustainable Design at BR+A Consulting Engineers and heads the NET+ sustainability consulting team. Over the past decade, he has championed the sustainability agenda for over twenty million square feet of sustainable buildings, including projects achieving LEED Platinum and Zero Net Energy. He has presented these success stories at events such as I2SL, NESEA, Healthcare Design, ABX, Tradeline, Autodesk University, UGIM, ESTECH, Lab Design, ACHEMA, FEFPA, AASHE and SCUP. He has also lead projects to receive two of the highest MADOER Grants for High Performance and Zero Net Energy.

**Rachel White ** joined Byggmeister Design & Build in 2009 after having hired Byggmeister to renovate her master suite. She started as a consultant helping to develop standards and goals for energy and water use, and indoor air quality and to track these over time. After she became an employee, her role evolved to include project management. In her current role Rachel splits her time between overseeing the company and shepherding projects through the planning process.

**Martine Dion** is SMMA's first sustainability director, leading a dedicated, in-house team of designers and consultants. She advises clients on sustainability, energy-efficiency strategies, LEED certification, and zero-net-energy opportunities, and provides LEED and sustainable strategy consulting to other design firms. She works with large utility providers to provide technical support for energy efficiency incentive programs, and serves as an in-house expert to SMMA design teams for best practice guidance and innovation.

**Rick Ames ** is a principal of Next Phase Studios, Architects of Boston. Starting with site specific, humanistic design, their work focuses on environmental performance and appropriate building technology for a wide range of projects and building types. The firm has been recognized with national and international design and performance awards, numerous publications, and local housing and community service awards. These include a Full Living Building Challenge and multiple LEED-Platinum Certified projects for performance. Rick has a BA from UVM in a self-designed major in Architectural & Engineering Studies and an M.Arch from MIT.
