How does national security affect our daily lives? Margery Eagan, co-host of Boston Public Radio on 89.7 WGBH, will explore this question and more in a conversation with Juliette Kayyem, author of _Security Mom: An Unclassified Guide to Protecting Our Homeland and Your Home._ On her WGBH podcast, Security Mom, Kayyem talks frankly and freely with leaders in the security world, putting the hype into perspective and bringing the conversation back home. WGBH General Manager of Radio Phil Redo will welcome you to an evening of insightful discussion.

In government, academia, journalism, and the private sector, Juliette Kayyem has served as a national leader in America’s homeland security efforts. Juliette presently serves as CEO of Zemcar, a company focused on connecting busy parents with qualified drivers to solve family transportation needs. Most recently, she was President Obama’s Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. She is also the Belfer Lecturer in International Security at the Harvard Kennedy School, a national security analyst and contributor for CNN, and a weekly featured analyst on Boston Public Radio. Juliette N. Kayyem was appointed as Massachusetts' first Undersecretary for Homeland Security by Gov. Deval L. Patrick in January 2007. When appointed by Governor Patrick, she became the first Arab-American to serve as a homeland security advisor at the state level. As undersecretary, she has been responsible for developing statewide policy on homeland security and specifically focused on preventing, protecting, responding to, and recovering from any and all critical incidents. Undersecretary Kayyem focused much of her time on coordinating efforts across local, state and federal entities.
