Samara Joy takes nothing for granted.
Samara Joy is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary jazz. She was the first jazz artist in over ten years to win “Best New Artist” at the 2023 Grammy awards, and has since released the acclaimed album Portrait. She’s at he Berklee Performance Center on Saturday, May 3rd as part of the Boston Celebrity Series. Before the show, two of her biggest fans and hosts of Jazz on 89.7, Al Davis and Va Lynda Robinson, got to speak with Ms. Joy.

Sir Zanele Muholi: Portrait of an activist
For nearly 20 years, Muholi has been photographing LGBTQ+ people in South Africa. Their work is now on view at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in the exhibition, "Being Muholi: Portraits as Resistance."
